This article was originally published in the May 1983 edition of SMart “a newsletter of gay SM.” SMart featured a range of content, including fiction, tutorials, guides on a DIY playroom, news, letters, book reviews, and more.
The SMartacus section featured tips about places for SM players in different cities - a riff on the name of the then-popular Spartacus gay guide.
The opinion piece reproduced in this issue was written by the regular author of SMartacus.
